by · Manchester Evening News

Zoe Ball has confirmed her return to the airwaves following her unexpected absence. The 53-year-old radio host normally keeps the nation company each morning from 6.30am on her BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show.

However, for the last several weeks Zoe has been absent from her presenting role, with the likes of Scott Mills and DJ Spoony stepping in to fill her shoes.

But that's all set to change as the presenter took to social media on Sunday (September 22) to confirm she will return to her flagship show on Monday morning (September 23).

She told fans: "Back to breakfast tomorrow morning 6.30." She added: "@realscottmills 7 @djspoony thanks for putting in the mega shifts."

Zoe posted the message as she shared an Instagram reel to her Story of Disco Bambino's track Odeon (Holdin’ On) as she added a GIF witht eh words 'Bring it' to the post before tagging her Breakfast Show team including Tina Daheley and Richie Anderson.

Fans have been becoming increasingly concerned with Zoe's long absence from the BBC show - and it seems she will still be off for at least another week.

Zoe was last on her breakfast show on August 8. She had returned just four days earlier from a previous lengthy absence. Speaking on August 12, Scott addressed Zoe's absence as he told listeners: "If you've just put us on this morning, it's Scott Mills in for Zoe for the next few weeks. I'm sending you all my love Zo' as are the team."

While a reason has not been given for Zoe's absence, the BBC presenter has faced quite a heartbreaking year, with the loss of her mum and needing emergency dental treatment. Back in April, Zoe took time off work as she emotionally announced the death of her mum, Julia Peckham. The late mother died from advanced pancreatic cancer aged 75.

Zoe's return somes after her son Woody Cook, 23, discussed his relationship with his mother in a conversation with MailOnline. He said: "My mum and I like to keep our private lives to ourselves but I will say I have stepped up and spent a lot more time with her recently as she has always been there when I've had tough times. I'm glad to see her smiling."
