Wheatley travelled to London.

Manchester United youngsters set to be included in squad vs West Ham

by · Manchester Evening News

Ethan Wheatley, Harry Amass, Habeeb Ogunneye and Jack Fletcher could be included in Manchester United's first-team squad to face West Ham.

United trained at Brisbane Road, home to Leyton Orient, on Saturday to prepare for West Ham and the pictures that were released revealed which players had travelled to London. Harry Maguire, Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount are currently unavailable through injury and that opened the door for Wheatley, Amass, Ogunneye and Fletcher to be involved.

Wheatley, Amass and Ogunneye were named in the squad to face Fenerbache in the Europa League on Thursday, but Fletcher was left at home and depending on whether Jonny Evans is considered fit enough to play, all four could be included in the squad at the London Stadium.

However, the expectation is Evans will be given the green light to be involved, which means one of the four youngsters who trained with the first-team at Leyton Orient will be left out.

There were 22 players in the pre-West Ham training session on Saturday and United can only name nine substitutes in a Premier League game, which means a squad of 20.

Tom Heaton was involved in training and is set to be omitted from the squad, but if Evans is passed fit, Erik ten Hag will be forced to leave a youngster out of the 20-man squad.

United claimed a 2-1 victory over Brentford at Old Trafford last weekend thanks to second-half goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund and need another three points.
