Police scramble to HIPPO in middle of seaside town's high street

Police are often prepared to handle a variety of incidents when responding to emergency calls. However, officers may have never encountered a situation quite like this one, where they were faced with a large model hippo, at one point even mounted by a young man.

The incident occurred around a year ago on Water Street, Rhyl, but the footage has only just been released. Josh Taylor, who filmed the incident, shared it on his Tik Tok account @poweredbygreta this week, commenting "only in Rhyl would you come across a hippo in the road".

He explained that the hippo had originated from the Children's Village across the street and had been obstructing the road for approximately 20 minutes before police arrived in patrol cars. After inspecting the hippo, the officers moved it to the side of the road to clear the way for traffic, while also speaking to some individuals nearby to investigate how the hippo ended up there in the first place.

Josh Taylor recalled: "This was around this time last year but I've never posted it until now. It came from over the road. at the Rhyl Children's Village."

"We saw a group of lads carrying it across the road, so I started recording. The hippo had been in the road for about 20 minutes before the police turned up.", reports North Wales Live.
