by · Manchester Evening News

The chilling details surrounding the tragic death of One Direction star Liam Payne have been confirmed by authorities, revealing that he "jumped from the balcony" of his hotel room in Argentina, according to reports.

In an official statement released to The Associated Press, police authorities revealed that the 31 year old singer "had jumped from the balcony of his room," seemingly dispelling any suggestions of an accidental fall or foul play. The heartbreaking incident took place during Payne's holiday in Buenos Aires with girlfriend Kate Cassidy, which included supporting former bandmate Niall Horan at a concert.

A preliminary post-mortem examination suggested Payne died from "multiple traumas" causing "internal and external bleeding" as a result of the 40-foot drop from the third floor of the hotel. After receiving an emergency call just after 5pm local time, authorities rushed to the scene having been alerted to an "aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol," as stated in the report to AP.

As the music industry grieves, updates on Liam Payne's sudden passing reveal the cause of death as his grieving family speaks out. The investigation into Payne's death is escalating with police searching for a drug supplier following the discovery of narcotics in his hotel suite.

Before disaster struck, the staff at Hotel Casa Sur had frantically contacted emergency services twice. The head of reception conveyed the critical situation in one call: "We have a guest who's off his head on drugs and is destroying everything in his room. We need someone to come," reports the Mirror.

Following the abrupt end of the call, another employee, who later identified Esteban, made a second urgent call: "I don't know if the guest's life is in danger." He continued, expressing concern: "The room has a balcony and we are afraid he might do something. Just send an ambulance, only an ambulance."

Despite the hotel staff's desperate attempts to elicit a rapid response, the authorities did not arrive in time to prevent the tragic loss of Liam. Subsequent investigations turned his hotel room upside down as police searched for evidence, discovering drug paraphernalia now sent for testing and a scene of disarray.

In a grim scene, officials discovered a destroyed television, traces of white powder, a nearly empty champagne glass, bits of burnt aluminium foil, and a singed soda can.

Investigations into the musician's premature death continue, with forensic toxicology and anatomical pathology set to examine blood and urine samples for signs of drug use. Further inquiries into his medical history aim to illuminate Liam's mental health condition.

Alberto Crescenti, the head of Buenos Aires emergency medical services, disclosed that Liam's death was instantaneous due to multiple injuries including a skull fracture. He elaborated: "Our role was to head there quickly, give medical attention, and try to resuscitate him, but his injuries were incompatible with life. Based on what the team saw, there was apparently a cranial fracture and extremely serious injuries that led to his immediate death."

It has now been confirmed by local authorities that Liam leapt from his balcony at the Casa Sur Hotel. , as reported by Pablo Policicchio, the communications director for the Buenos Aires Security Ministry, in conversation with PEOPLE.

In a subsequent call, the staff member added: "We need you to send someone urgently because I don't know if the guest's life is in danger. They must be in a room that has a balcony. And well, we're a little bit worried he'll do something, that he'll put his life at risk."

Local law enforcement had previously verified that an investigation was in progress to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. Toxological and anatomical-pathological examinations of blood and urine are being conducted to identify any drug traces.

Police discovered a whisky bottle, a lighter, and a white powder in the room, along with medications such as clonazepam - used for treating epilepsy, panic disorders or involuntary muscle spasms - and energy pills.
