Strictly Come Dancing has addressed Amy Dowden's sudden absence from the latest results show, in which she and celebrity dance partner JB Gill made it through to week seven of the competition.

The Welsh dancer was absent from Sunday night's (October 27) results show, which is filmed the evening before after the live broadcast on BBC One. She and JLS star JB glided their way to a score of 32 with their foxtrot to Dancing In The Moonlight by Toploader.

Following their performance in the Halloween special on Saturday night (October 26), Anton Du Beke told JB and Amy he thought they had given a "super duper performance" but Craig Revel Horwood thought JB could have gone further with the scarecrow character.

Addressing Amy's absence as she and JB's place in week seven of Strictly's 20th-anniversary series was confirmed, a BBC spokesperson said: "Due to unforeseen circumstances, Amy Dowden was unable to be in tonight’s results show."

It comes after the 34-year-old professional dancer is believed to have fallen ill following the live show and was attended by paramedics and taken away in an ambulance, the Mirror reports.

A spokesman for Amy said: "Amy was feeling unwell and so an ambulance was called as a precaution. She is feeling much better and would like to thank the Strictly family for their love and concern. We request Amy's privacy in matters of health is kindly respected."

And fans rushed to social media to show support. @TheYOLOArtist said: "Hope Amy is ok & wishing her a speedy & healthy recovery. #Strictly." @Becky_foxy123 commented: "JB standing alone on the result show has hurt my heart. Really hope Amy is okay #strictly." @blue_laur11 wrote: "Aww no bless her sending love and hugs to Amy #Strictly." @mikepriestley13 added: "Sending love to @dowden_amy x #Strictly."

It comes after Amy said she is "loving every second" of Strictly. She was forced to take time out of her role as a professional on the hit dance show last year after being diagnosed with breast cancer but was told in February there was 'no evidence of disease' and she has since made a triumphant return to the ballroom.

She told The Sunday Mirror newspaper: "I never truly felt really like me since my cancer journey, until I was back on 'Strictly' and working with my lovely JB. That’s what I found hardest going into the dance-off – I’m not ready to have this taken away from me. I had it completely taken away from me last year and I’m loving being back. I don’t want it to stop.

"I’m not ready to finish my journey because I’m loving every second. I knew JB could get through the dance and could ace it." Amy is also "grateful" to be getting back to health and reflected on just how much has changed within the space of a year.

She added: "Honestly, it’s the most wonderful thing. I get so many messages about my smile. I do always look back and think, ‘Gosh, this time last year I was having chemo, this time last year I was in hospital with a blood clot’. What a difference a year can make. I get messages every day from people saying, ‘I’m going through chemo and you’re my hope’, or, ‘Because of you I’ve checked myself and I found a lump’, or some-thing like this. I’m just grateful to be back and be in the position I am."
