Manchester United vs Brentford score predicted as Erik ten Hag future decided

by · Manchester Evening News

Manchester United welcome Brentford to Old Trafford today in the first game following the October international break, where another draw or loss could see Erik ten Hag's situation reach boiling point.

The pressure on Ten Hag seems to be increasing game after game this season, with United having won just three games from their last 10 across all competitions. With United winless in five and the last Premier League success coming in September, Ten Hag's side currently sit 14th in the Premier League.

The Bees have scored within the first two minutes in each of their last four Premier League games, with Thomas Frank's side earning the reputation of being one of the most dangerous in the league from minute one. Kobbie Mainoo will be sidelined for a few weeks with an injury he picked up before the international break, while Harry Maguire also remains out.

So, can United put an end to their winless streak on Saturday? Let's take a look.

Man United vs Brentford score predicted

To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 25 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that United could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Onana; Mazraoui, Evans, Martinez, Dalot; Ugarte, Eriksen, Fernandes; Garnacho, Hojlund, Rashford.

We predict that the Bees could line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Flekken; Van den Berg, Collins, Pinnock, Ajer; Janelt, Norgaard; Mbuemo, Damsgaard, Lewis-Potter; Schade.

There was no early goal for Brentford this time round – instead, it was United who started on top, and they should've scored two minutes in when Rasmus Hojlund's header at the near post was glanced wide of goal. It was an impressive start to the game from Ten Hag's side who had plenty of chances in the first half, but the final product let them down, with Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho also guilty of missing big opportunities.

The electric start from United in the first half disappeared after the restart, and if it wasn't for Andre Onana, Brentford would've been ahead, with the Bees forcing the 'keeper into making eight saves in the second half. After having 11 shots in the first half, United managed just two in the second, and one of them was the golden chance to snatch the three points late on.

Diogo Dalot spotted the run of substitute Joshue Zirkzee in the middle of the pitch, with the defender lifting a fantastic pass over the Brentford back line to send the striker through on goal. But, one-on-one with the 'keeper, Zirkzee's shot was poor as he fired directly at Mark Flekken, with the points being shared in a stalemate at Old Trafford.
