The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ( NHTSA ) has named the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid as the specific make that is experiencing some problems with its braking system.

Drivers have been urged to visit their local Toyota dealership to check whether they are at risk. Staff will run updates on the vehicles' programs to ensure that it is safe to drive, the Mirror reports.

The NHTSA further explained that workers will update the the skid control ECU software for free. It comes just after Toyota recalled 43,395 of its 2023-2024 Sequoia Hybrids in the US after detecting a possible problem with the vehicles' tow hitches. The part is a device that can be found on the rear of a car. It is used to link a trailer to the vehicle so it can be towed.

The brand said: "The subject vehicles are equipped with a resin tow hitch cover held in place by molded clips to the rear bumper. Due to the design of the attachment structure between the tow hitch cover and bumper, there may be insufficient retention of the cover."
