Strictly Come Dancing fans call for ‘petition’ for star to return following ‘epic’ dance

BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans called for a ‘petition’ to bring back one of the show’s former stars following an ‘epic’ professional group dance choreographed by Oti Mabuse. The professional dancers performed a paso doble, led by Nancy Xu and Dianne Buswell, during Sunday night’s results show.

They gave a breathtaking and dramatic dance, which initially began in a silent studio before the band performed Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood by Santa Esmeralda. Strictly fans hailed it as “incredible” and “epic”, with one saying it was the best professional dance they had seen in a long time.

A former professional dancer and two time winner of the show, Oti had already caused a stir among viewers during Saturday night’s show when she was spotted in the audience. She first joined the show in 2015, and won the 2019 series with Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher, and the 2020 series with Bill Bailey.

She left the show in 2021 having been a professional dancer for seven years. But now fans are demanding for her to return to the show and choreograph future professional group routines.

One viewer said it was “the best” professional dance she had seen “in a long time” while another asked if she could choreograph all of the professional dancers. @HareBrainedIdea wrote: “This is the best pro dance I’ve seen in a long time. Well done Oti #strictly #StrictlyComeDancing” @strictlyblog added: “Can Oti choreograph all the pro numbers please? That was an epic group paso! #Strictly."
