What We Do In The Shadows introduces us to vampires Nandor, Colin Robinson, Nadja, and Laszlo residing in a grand Staten Island abode.

Under the care of Nandor's familiar Guillermo, they embark on ventures like Nadja's bar, stir up mischief locally, and seek the love of their (un)dead lives.

Guillermo grapples with his allegiance to Nandor and his aspiration to become a vampire, all while harbouring a grave secret he descends from the infamous vampire slayer Van Helsing.

For existing fans, the entire series is up for a re-watch on BBC iPlayer. Newcomers yet to experience the humour are in for a treat, with the show boasting a 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes and critics hailing it as unmissable, reports the Mirror.

Claudia Puig of USA Today remarked on the series: "If Twilight made you queasy and Dark Shadows felt like a missed opportunity, this pitch-perfect genre spoof is worth relishing."

Critics say it's a "missed opportunity" with the series given a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes

JR Jones of Chicago Reader confessed: "I'm so sick of vampires I'd have pounded a stake into my own heart not to have to watch this, but it turns out to be a pitch-perfect spoof of MTV's The Real World and a sly satire on millennial slackerdom."

However, for those who get hooked, there's disappointing news as the series is drawing to a close. The final season will air on FX in the US come October 21, subsequently making its way to the BBC.

What We Do In The Shadows follows vampires Nandor, Colin Robinson, Nadja and Laszlo

The upcoming series will welcome back Harvey Guillen as Guillermo, Natasia Demetriou as Nadja, Mark Proksch as Colin Robinson, Matt Berry as Laszlo and Kristen Schaal as The Guide.

However, if What We Do in the Shadows doesn't tickle your fancy, BBC iPlayer offers a plethora of alternatives. They have a unique 'Scream Every Episode' section featuring the eerie sitcom Ghosts, Alexandra Daddario in Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches, and Tim Key alongside Daisy May Cooper in the historical comedy, The Witchfinder.
