Man United star Rasmus Hojlund criticised for injuring Premier League teammate in training

by · Manchester Evening News

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster has criticised Rasmus Hojlund for injuring Denmark and Leicester City goalkeeper Mads Hermansen prior to Euro 2024 this summer.

The Danish goalkeeper explained on the Fozcast podcast that Hojlund clattered him during a training session prior to the tournament. The challenge caused Hermansen to chip his tooth which he had previously damaged as a child.

Hojlund's collision led to the plastic, which was used to mend Hermansen's tooth as a kid, falling off. Upon hearing this revelation, Foster was critical of the Dane's behaviour, especially considering it was not a competitive environment.

"Cheers Rasmus, appreciate that," Foster said sarcastically. "That’s rubbish that. I’m not having that, it’s poor. When you’re doing it in a bit of practice set piece thing, you’ve got to take it easy. You can’t go full-blooded like that."

While Foster failed to see why Hojlund's behaviour was at all warranted, Hermansen insisted that there was no harm done to their relationship.

"But he is that kind of guy and I love that about him," the Leicester City shot-stopper added. "He’s giving everything, always. He’s just got an exceptional way of being a professional."

Hojlund will make his return to Premier League action this afternoon when the Reds host Brentford. It has been a difficult start to the campaign for the Dane having suffered a hamstring injury during pre-season in the United States.

The centre-forward has one goal to his name so far this campaign which arrived in the Europa League draw with Porto prior to the October international break.
