Is Kevin De Bruyne fit to start for Man City vs Arsenal? Injury latest and FPL update

Manchester City will be sweating over the fitness of Kevin De Bruyne going into Sunday's clash against Arsenal.

The Belgian was forced off during Wednesday's Champions League fixture against Inter Milan. De Bruyne remains a key figure for Pep Guardiola's team having played 90 minutes in all but one Premier League fixture for City so far this season.

But Guardiola faces the potential prospect of being without his influential captain against title rivals Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium. The 33-year-old missed 17 league matches through injury last term, but what about Sunday?

What has been said about De Bruyne's injury?

Guardiola has not ruled De Bruyne out of Sunday's fixture after further inspections following the knock he received against Inter.

"He feels a little bit better today but we have not yet had training and we will see," he said in a press conference ahead of the game. "He could be [involved]."

Guardiola confirmed that Phil Foden, who came on for De Bruyne against Inter, is able to play 90 minutes again after a disrupted start to the season. "Every player needs a break. He played a good 45 minutes the last game," said the City boss.

"He was the best player in the league last season and can fight with the other midfield players. Unfortunately the final decision he was not more calm but his intensity and pressing and movements in small pockets, he is one of the best in the world. That's why we are very pleased that he is back."

Will De Bruyne be fit to face Arsenal in Gameweek 5?

Fantasy Premier League gives De Bruyne a 75 per cent chance of playing. However, Guardiola's words don't offer the same level of optimism.

The Gunners will be hoping that City will be without their influential star who scored three goals against Mikel Arteta's side when Guardiola's team denied Arsenal the league title in 2022/23.
