BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans hail 'best ever' couple and tip them to win - but it's not Tasha and Aljaz

Strictly Come Dancing fans have hailed the 'best ever' couple to ever appear on the show as it celebrates its 20th anniversary - but it's not the latest leaderboard toppers.

While it's only week three of the year's competition, it was a big night on Saturday (October 5) for the BBC One dance contest as it was the annual Movie Week special.

Just 13 of the 14 remaining couples performed during the live show as, at the eleventh hour, DIY SOS star Nick Knowles and his dance partner Luba Mushtuk were forced to pull out of the show this weekend after Nick suffered an injury on Friday (October 4).

The latest show once again saw Love Island star Tasha Ghouri topping the leaderboard scoring 34 out of 40. The 26-year-old performed a “moving” rumba with professional partner Aljaz Skorjanec to What Was I Made For? by Billie Eilish from the Barbie movie.

Morning Live’s Dr Punam Krishan and Gorka Marquez performed the first couple’s choice of the show’s 20th anniversary series to Bole Chudiyan from the Bollywood film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, coming joint second scoring 33.

Miranda star Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola’s Viennese waltz to Hedwig’s Theme from the Harry Potter series, described as a tribute to Dame Maggie Smith, and singer Shayne Ward and Nancy Xu’s version of the same dance to If I Can Dream from Elvis, both also scored 33.

Meanwhile, it was singer Toyah Willcox and Neil Jones who scored the lowest with 15, performing the samba to Poor Unfortunate Souls from The Little Mermaid, with Revel-Horwood describing the singer as “stuck in the mud”.

But, it was Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell who once again captured the hearts of viewers. The pair scored 30 with their Wayne’s World-inspired jive.

Comedian Chris and dancer Dianne appeared as the film’s main characters, with judge Craig Revel-Horwood describing their performance as "packed full of fantastic rhythm". He said: "Strong at kickball changes, they’re a little bit heavy for my liking, but it was full, packed full of fantastic rhythm."

Taking to social media following their latest performance, @bcoops112 said: "These two are the best on Strictly EVER! Dianne is just bloody fantastic! I can't get over her!" @sarah_dee73 echoed: "Absolutely phenomenal. Dianne is a legend in how she's turned Chris into a dancer."

@linzirob shared: "This lad…honestly…game for anything - Chris McCausland jiving better than some sighted celebs #Strictly@kevwgs posted: "I am genuinely stunned at how good Chris McCausland is in every aspect of the dances. And they also think they could win it. @waltydunlop said: "Chris and Dianne might just win this thing. It's all looking very Oti and Bill Bailey suddenly. Keep an eye out as the public never votes them into the dance-off. They're quite brilliant, aren't they? #Strictly."

@NikkiABoleyn commented: "I want Diane and Chris to win so much. Hes insane. So in time with her, not a missed step. #Strictly." @Doda127 wrote "Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell for the win #Strictly Iconic." @benoxley13 shared: "Chris and dianne the winners already #Strictly." @KindExPro added: If Chris doesn’t win #Strictly then it’s a travesty."
