Welfare team check in on Strictly's Katya Jones and Wynne Evans after 'concerning' moment

Strictly duo Katya Jones and Wynne Evans have been checked on by a welfare team after an incident where Jones was seen pushing Evans' hand away from her midriff on camera. The PA news agency understands that no further action is planned.

During Saturday night's episode of the popular BBC One show, 35 year old Jones was seen pushing away opera singer Evans' hand from her midriff.

The pair later apologised for the incident in a video posted to Evans' Instagram page, stating they were "just messing around in the Clauditorium on Saturday night and just want to say sorry. It was a silly joke".

Their apology was accompanied by a caption stating they "really are amazing friends" and explaining that the "high 5's is a running joke", following another moment on Saturday night where Jones appeared to avoid high fiving her celebrity partner.

A Strictly insider informed the PA News agency: "Wynne and Katya have confirmed that their interactions in the Clauditorium were silly jokes they had planned together and have apologised to anyone who may have misinterpreted them."

"They addressed them on Wynne's Instagram, where their apology can be found. Katya would like to clarify further that she was not offended by Wynne and was not made to feel uncomfortable in the least. The welfare team have checked in on the pair and there are no further actions planned."

On Saturday night's show (October 12) the couple scored 34 for their tango to Abba's Money, Money, Money.

Strictly made a dazzling return in September to celebrate its 20th anniversary with a fresh lineup of celebrities and some notable changes, which now include the addition of chaperones "at all times" during rehearsals. .

This move came about after the BBC conducted a review following concerns raised by 'Sherlock' actress Amanda Abbington regarding her experience with the 2023 Strictly professional Giovanni Pernice. .
