Presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris extend Diwali wishes and Mr.Trump promises to protect Hindu Americans against radical left
by Varghese K. George · The HinduU.S. presidential candidates, Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris, extended Deepavali wishes to all, with the former also promising to “protect Hindu Americans against the anti-religion agenda of the radical left.”
Mr. Trump termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi his “good friend,” accused Ms. Harris and President Joe Biden of ignoring the Hindus and condemned the violence in Bangladesh.
“…Strongly condemn the barbaric violence against Hindus, Christians, and other minorities who are getting attacked and looted by mobs in Bangladesh, which remains in a total state of chaos,” Mr. Trump said in a post on social media.
“Also, Happy Diwali to All. I hope the Festival of Lights leads to the Victory of Good over Evil!” the former President said.
A shorter message from Ms. Harris said: “Tonight, we join more than 1 billion people across America and around the world lighting diyas and celebrating the fight for good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and light over darkness…Happy Diwali to everyone celebrating the Festival of Lights.”
In the evening, the Vice President also posted a photo of her residence lit for the occasion. “In celebration of Diwali, we illuminated the Vice President’s Residence and remember to see the light in our world, in each other, and in ourselves,” Ms. Harris posted.
