Noida man arrested for making fresh threat message to Zeeshan Siddique

by Snehal Mutha · The HinduA 20-year-old man has been arrested on Tuesday (October 29, 2024) over death threats to actor Salman Khan and Zeeshan Siddique, MLA and son of slain leader late Baba Siddiqui.
The FIR was registered on Monday(October 28, 2024) after the sitting MLA Mr. Siddique’s team member informed police of the threat.

In the fresh threat case, police took accused identified as Gufran Maqbool (20), into custody on Tuesday at 1 a.m., Bandra Police told The Hindu. He has no previous record of committing crime.
“The suspect wrote a message as he was not audible on call. In the message, he mentioned that he heard certain people plotting attacks on Salman Khan and Zeeshan Siddiqui. The local politicians are also involved in it. However, when our police team verified the location and checked the CCTV footage, where he heard several men talking, did not match his narration,” said a Bandra police officer, adding the case is high-profile and sensitive, so the arrest was made.
According to police, the suspect, Gufran was called for an inquiry on receiving the threat message from him but was arrested after verification. The suspect is an unemployed youth, originally from Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, who resides in Greater Noida.
He was booked under Section 308 (2)- the crime of extortion, 308 (5)- extortion by putting any person in fear of death, and Section 351(1)- criminal intimidation of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
