Coleen Rooney, the 38-year-old celeb and wife of Plymouth Argyle head coach Wayne Rooney, is rumoured to have signed up for 'I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!'

It's reported that she's bagged a deal exceeding the £1.5 million fee that Reform leader Nigel Farage pocketed for his stint on the ITV1 jungle reality show last year.

Fans of the ITV show may be wondering how the TV personally could bargain such a fee for her upcoming stint on the show. We have taken a deep dive into Coleen Rooney's life, from her history on TV to her marriage to Wayne Rooney, her net worth, and her life after her infamous Wagatha Christie case.

Net worth

In 2023, OK Magazine! reported that Wayne Rooney had a net worth of $170 million, while his wife Coleen's net worth was $19 million, thanks to her decade-long career in the media. The couple's combined wealth amounts to $189 million, equating to £155 million in British currency.

History on TV

Rooney kicked off her television career in 2006 by joining forces with Sir Trevor McDonald on 'Tonight with Trevor McDonald.' The star presented a segment focusing on Rett syndrome, a condition that affects her younger sister.

Coleen then starred in her ITV series, 'Coleen's Real Women', where she was dubbed "The nation's favourite girl next door" and sought "real women" to lead advertising campaigns instead of professional models.

However, she started her career in journalism. She wrote a column for the celebrity magazine Closer entitled "Welcome to My World." According to Forbes, Coleen left Closer in 2008 to write a weekly fashion and news column for OK! magazine.

The star has many hats in the entertainment industry; she created and starred in an exercise DVD, fronted a George campaign for £3 million, struck a deal with retail and gambling company Littlewoods as well as releasing three books called Welcome to My World, Coleen's Real Style and a four-book series called Coleen Style Queen from 2008 to 2010.

Marriage to Wayne Rooney

Coleen is married to Plymouth Argyle boss Wayne Rooney. According to the Independent, Coleen and Wayne were just 12 when they first met in Croxteth in Liverpool; however, they stayed friends until they were 16. Coleen wrote in her 2008 memoir, Coleen: Welcome to My World, that their relationship was initially very innocent and that they would meet up “at the chippy or the cinema”.

In 2008, the pair married in Portofino, Italy. In 2009, she became pregnant with her first child. The pair share four sons: Kai, 13, Klay, 10, Kit, 7, and Cass, 5. Throughout their marriage, they suffered a few marriage scandals, such as Wayne Rooney's alleged affair with sex worker Jennifer Thompson in 2010.

Their marriage hit the rocks in 2017 when reporters uncovered the former footballer had been pulled over behind the wheel of another woman's car and was three times over the drink-drive limit, reported the Mirror. Wayne Rooney met Laura Simpson at a bar before joining her for a drive in her VW Beetle. Despite all of this, the pair remain married.

Wagatha case

The 'infamous Wagatha case' between Coleen and Rebecca Vardy sprung the star into the limelight, even getting its own Disney Plus documentary. For those unaware of the case, it began in October 2019; Coleen made her sensational accusation that Rebekah had been selling stories about her to a tabloid – sharing a tweet that began: “This has been a burden in my life for a few years now and finally I have got to the bottom of it..."

She wrote: "For a few years now someone who I trusted to follow me on my personal Instagram account has been consistently informing THE SUN newspaper of my private posts and stories. There has been so much information given to them about me, my friends and my family – all without my permission or knowledge. After a long time of trying to figure out who it could be, for various reasons, I had a suspicion.

"To try and prove this, I came up with an idea. I blocked everyone from viewing my Instagram stories except ONE account. (Those on my private account must have been wondering why I haven’t had stories on there for a while.) Over the past five months I have posted a series of false stories to see if the made their way into the Sun newspaper. And you know what, they did! The story about gender selection in Mexico, the story about returning to TV and then the latest story about the basement flooding in my new house.

"It’s been tough keeping it to myself and not making any comment at all, especially when the stories have been leaked, however I had to. Now I know for certain with account / individual it’s come from. I have saved and screenshotted all the original stories which clearly show just one person has viewed them. It’s ……….Rebekah Vardy’s account."

After Coleen made her accusation public, Rebekah decided to take legal action – launching a libel case against her. The cost of the court action is expected to hit over £1 million in legal costs – with both ladies appearing determined to prove the other is in the wrong., reported the Mirror.

Now the star will take on the jungle for the ITV reality show. Coleen has reportedly signed up as her sons are avid watchers of the long-running show. It is hoped that she can capitalise on the recent news of the Wagatha Christie case being back in the news, with Rebekah now ordered to pay Coleen a further £100,000 in legal costs after losing the original libel case.

An insider from The Sun on Sunday said: "Coleen has a huge fanbase and she won massive plaudits for her classy handling of the Wagatha Christie case. She's excited to show fans a different side to her and prove she can survive without her creature comforts."
