Marshall And Billie Joe Armstrong Unveil Monitor III ANC Headphones

Marshall and Billie Joe Armstrong have joined forces to launch the new Monitor III ANC wireless headphones. The new Monitor III ANC support spatial audio and can play for up to 70 hours with ANC turned on and 100 hours with noise canceling turned off. The Green Day frontman will be leading Marshall’s launch of the new headphones.

To put some rock ‘n’ roll into the rather staid world of noise-canceling headphones, Marshall says it has designed the Monitor III ANC from the ground up. Drawing on the brand’s seven decades of making sound, the headphones boast “thunderous bass and screaming highs” alongside enhanced noise-canceling technology to shut out unwanted sounds.

The headphones support Marshall’s new Soundstage spatial audio technology, giving private listening sessions into concert hall acoustics. Another innovative feature is a new Adaptive Loudness feature that adjusts the sound based on where the listener is. Marshall claims it does this without compromising on audio quality.

Because everyone’s listening habits are different, the Monitor III ANC offer audio personalization options that first debuted on Major V. There is a customizable M-button for navigating EQ settings, Spotify and voice assistants.

To improve noise canceling and voice calls, Marshall has sourced microphones designed to reduce wind noise so users can experience ANC and clear calls almost anywhere in any weather.

Thanks to Bluetooth LE Audio technology, the Monitor III ANC are equipped with Auracast, a new technology for audio-sharing and linking with other Auracast Marshall speakers and headphones.

The design of the Monitor III ANC is classic Marshall but with a lightweight and foldable construction making the headphones more portable. There is also a premium hard case with red velvet inside resembling a guitar case, a nod to Marshall’s rich musical heritage.

“Monitor III ANC focus on the essentials for good performance. We have reduced the weight, made the cushions soft as clouds and completely re-imagined the headband for long-lasting comfort,” says design director, Kenny Wong. “From an experience point of view, it stretches what is possible when it comes to the touch and feel of a Marshall product. They are extremely tactile with a self-healing leather texture and that unmistakable brass logo.”

“We have completely revised the acoustic design to improve the performance on all fronts: sound, ANC, transparency and voice calls,” adds audio and acoustics engineer, Nicolas Pignier Delafontaine. “Monitor III delivers a sound that is wide, well-balanced, detailed and enjoyable. Soundstage spatial audio takes the music out of your head and onto a virtual stage around you, making you feel immersed and revealing subtle layers in your favorite records.”

Those are bold claims but there is no doubting Marshall’s incredible music heritage and the brand continues to increase sales with its growing range of speakers, earbuds and headphones. There has been an uptick in the launch energy since Stockholm-based Zound Industries and Marshall merged to form the Marshall Group which finally brought the personal audio products into the same unit as the guitar amplifier business.
