Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has received yet another death threat. On Tuesday, traffic control received a message from an unknown person demanding Rs 2 crore. An officer from the department said the message sender threatened to kill Salman Khan if the money was not delivered.
The Worli police in Mumbai have registered a case against an unknown person under sections 354 (2) and 308 (4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
On Tuesday, the police detained an 18-year-old in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, identified as Mohammad Tayyab, who allegedly sent a threatening message targeting Bollywood star Salman Khan. According to sources, Tayyab, a carpenter by trade, was apprehended for allegedly sending a text to the Mumbai Control Room.
Tayyab's alleged message said, "We shall not spare Salman Khan... This is your [Salman Khan's] last warning."
Police officials in Noida said Tayyab was from the Kardam Puri area of Delhi and lived there with his uncle. His father, Mohammad Tahir, is a tailor. Tayyab was employed as a carpenter at an under-construction property in Noida's Sector 92, where he earned around Rs 8,000 per month.
When questioned, Tayyab claimed that he sent the text message as a "joke". However, Mumbai police have taken him into custody for further questioning as part of the investigation.
Following recent threats and the assassination of his political associate Siddique, Salman Khan is maintaining a low public profile. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which earlier issued death threats against the actor, was also linked to an attack on Khan’s friend Baba Siddique. Security around Khan has increased due to ongoing threats.
In a related case, the Mumbai Police arrested another man from Noida for allegedly threatening both Salman Khan and Zeeshan Siddique, son of the late NCP leader Baba Siddique. The arrest came after a threat call was made to Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Bandra East on Friday.
