2024 college football Week 4 picks against the spread, odds, lines, key trends: Vegas expert makes picks

Legendary Vegas handicapper Bruce Marshall has studied the trends and found the best betting values during the Week 4 college football schedule

· CBS Sports

Perhaps no other team in the nation has a quarterback room with as much talent as top-ranked Texas, and the Longhorns get a chance to show off that depth on Saturday. With Quinn Ewers (abdominal) ruled out, the Longhorns will turn to highly-touted redshirt freshman Arch Manning, a third-generation member of the famed quarterback family. Manning was sensational in relief of Ewers last week and the Longhorns are still 44.5-point favorites in the Week 4 college football odds via SportsLine consensus despite having a backup QB in as they take on UL Monroe.

While that looks like a massive mismatch on paper, there are plenty of thrilling games expected Saturday such as No. 6 Tennessee (-7) vs. No. 15 Oklahoma, No. 14 Oklahoma State (+1) vs. No. 12 Utah and No. 11 USC (-4.5) vs. No. 18 Michigan in a 3:30 p.m. ET Big Ten on CBS matchup. Before locking in any Week 4 college football picks on those games or others, be sure to see the college football betting guide from legendary Vegas handicapper Bruce Marshall

For years Vegas-based Marshall was synonymous with The Gold Sheet, the famed sports betting newsletter. With a background in play-by-play work and sports information while in college, Marshall joined TGS in 1981 when hired by the legendary Mort Olshan and served as executive editor for many years.

An in-demand guest on numerous sports talk radio and TV shows across the country, Bruce's vast array of editorial work has been featured in the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the New York Post and many other outlets. He has won various handicapping titles and also is working on several book projects.

Now, using his Tech Corner technique that evaluates all the trends and the latest college football odds, Marshall has turned his attention to college football betting for Week 4 and revealed picks for each matchup. Head here to see every pick.

Top college football predictions for Week 4

One of the top college football picks Marshall is recommending for Week 4: He's taking No. 15 Oklahoma (+7) to cover at home against No. 6 Tennessee on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET. This has been one of the biggest line movers on the Week 4 slate as Oklahoma was as much as a 5-point favorite in the lookahead lines. It has crossed all the way over to Tennessee -7, and Marshall has found some key trends that point to Oklahoma's favor.

After a slow start at OU, head coach Brent Venables has now covered in seven of the past nine games at home. Tennessee also struggled to get going on the road last year, covering just once in five opportunities. The Vols have dominated thus far, but this is easily their biggest test in terms of opposing talent and being in a hostile environment.

The total, meanwhile, has fallen from 61.5 to 57.5, and Marshall likes the value of the Over since these teams are averaging a combined 97.4 points per game thus far in 2024. See which other picks to make here
