Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ and Galaxy Tab Ultra coming October 3 for $999 and up

by · Liliputing

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S lineup has come to dominate the premium Android tablet market in recent years… partly because Samsung is one of the only companies that’s continuing to make premium Android tablets. And this year the company is going all-in on the premium side of things.

At launch, there’s no entry-level Galaxy Tab S10 with an 11 inch display as there had been in previous years. Instead, when Samsung’s new tablets go on sale in select markets starting October 3, customers will have two choices: spend $999 or more on a 12.4 inch Galaxy Tab S10+ or purchase a 14.6 inch Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra for $1,119 and up.

For now, folks looking for a smaller, cheaper tablet may want to stick with last year’s Galaxy Tab S9 or a cheaper mode like the Galaxy Tab S9 FE or Galaxy Tab S6 Lite.

Another surprising thing about this year’s models (or surprising if you haven’t been paying attention to the leaks that have been rolling out in recent weeks), is that Samsung’s new tablets don’t have Qualcomm Snapdragon processors or Samsung Exynos chips. Instead they’re powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300+ processor.

While MediaTek is probably best known for making the chips found in budget devices, Samsung says that compared with the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, the new S10 Ultra features:

  • 18% faster CPU performance
  • 28% boost in GPU performance (for graphics)
  • 14% increase in NPU performance (for AI)

Other features are largely what we’ve come to expect from Samsung’s flagship tablets. That includes high-resolution AMOLED displays with speedy refresh rates, support for pressure-sensitive input from a Samsung S-Pen, and a growing number of AI features including the ability to convert sketches to AI-generated images, clean up handwritten notes, translate PDF files, and use Google’s Circle to Search function to get more information about anything on your screen at any time.
