Strictly Come Dancing fans were quick to express their disappointment only moments into the live show over the revamped format.

The BBC competition was back on screens Saturday (October 26) for yet another tension-filled episode. As the contest heats up, the remaining celebrities are pulling out all the stops to ensure their spot in the race.

This week, in celebration of Halloween, the pairs have gone all in with their performances and outfits. Reality celeb Pete Wicks donned The Joker guise with his dance partner Jowita Przysta appearing as Harley Quinn.

Adding to the spooky affair, EastEnders' very own Jamie Borthwick and pro partner Michelle Tsiakkas have taken on the roles of Wednesday and Pugsley Addams.

Not to be left behind, the judges also embraced the Halloween spirit with Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke channeling The Shining's twins, Motsi Mabuse stepping out as Cruella de Vill, and Shirley Ballas embodying Winifred Sanderson, reports the Mirror.

In spite of the razzle-dazzle onstage, viewers weren't shy about voicing discontent immediately after the programme's opening segment, taking to X, previously known as Twitter, to air their grievances.

A disgruntled viewer posted: "Can they please stop doing these stupid intros. They're beyond embarrassing for all involved #Strictly."

Some fans expressed annoyance with hosts Tess and Claudia, with comments such as: "Please please please stop with Tess and Claudia just standing there."

Another displeased viewer said: "I still despise the opening to the show," while yet another criticised: "Why do they have to do the acting stuff at the start now! It's so boring."

This comes after host Claudia Winkleman opened up about why she has a personal aversion to wearing Halloween costumes. The reason is deeply personal for the star, who has been a fervent advocate for safer Halloween costumes following a harrowing accident involving her daughter Matilda nine years ago.

At the age of eight, Matilda suffered a serious injury when her witch costume caught fire as she accidentally came into contact with a candle.

Claudia recollected the terrifying incident in an interview with Daily Mail: "I don't like Halloween because a few years ago it turned out our screams were real. She 'went up' is the only way I can describe it it was a spark and she screamed out for me. It was like those horrific birthday candles that you blow out and they come back. It was really fast. It was definitely life-changing for me."
