Katya Jones showed 'tell-tale' sign in 'odd' apology video with Strictly partner Wynne Evans

Strictly Come Dancing professional Katya Jones and her partner Wynne Evans were forced to issue an apology after an awkward moment on Saturday night's show.

Body language expert Judi James has shared her thoughts on the video featuring Strictly Come Dancing's Katya Jones and Wynne Evans following their recent on-air incident, reports the Mirror.

During Saturday night's show, Wynne's attempt to place his hand on Katya's waist was noticeably rebuffed, prompting a reaction from fans. Addressing the incident, the BBC duo issued an apology on social media, labelling the moment as a "silly joke". On Instagram, Katya exclaimed: "Hello everybody it's Wynne and Katya here. We just wanted to say we were just messing around in the Clauditorium on Saturday night and just want to say sorry. It was a silly joke."

Wynne chipped in with a concise: "Yes sorry."

Wynne also elaborated in the post caption: "Apologies for this tonight we were just messing around. We really are amazing friends. The high 5's is a running joke. Have a great evening @katyajones."

However, when reviewing the interaction for Mirror Online, Judi described Katya and Wynne's exchange as peculiar and somewhat "forced", suggesting that Katya might have been uncomfortable, especially noting her "clenched teeth" during the video. Judi remarked: "Katya is [Strictly's] most skilled masker. When she's been under pressure in past seasons, her already famous smile has widened and her energy levels have increased - rather than dimmed.

"Bravado and a will to win are her forte. Which is what makes these moments that are very obviously on camera so compelling and odd."

Judi commented: "As Katya nods and smiles at Claudia, Wynne places a hand on her shoulder while his other inches round her waist. If you were being generous, you might suggest she didn't realise it was him, or that she'd previously spotted him scoffing some green room chocs and didn't want marks on her white dress."

"Their video apology does nothing to help, as why apologise to the viewer with chastened expressions? There's no signals of joking, or fun, or [a] relaxed, close friendship in this video either, like eye contact or shared chuckling. His smile looks forced and Katya ends with what look like clenched teeth."

Viewers expressed discomfort over the incident, with one writing: "Sorry guys, how is that a joke? Ok the refusal to do the high five and the eye roll, yep get that, but the hand slowly moving across Katya's stomach, and her moving it away and looking seriously uncomfortable? ? How is that a 'joke'? ".

Another questioned: "And the hand sliding across the waist? Was that a joke too? ".

An additional comment read: "Please leave Strictly Come Dancing ... you're making your partner uncomfortable, not cool! ! ".

Yet another added: "Well mate your body language and eye flicker tell another story. Used to being handsy with women clearly."

A separate individual mentioned: "Yuck, watching his misappropriate touching your waist and stomach when it wasn't wanted is giving me creep vibes. And I am very rarely wrong. Just yuck."
