In the latest round of Global NCAP crash tests, the new generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire has achieved 5 stars for adult occupant and 4 stars for child occupant tests

The all-new Maruti Suzuki Dzire, slated for a launch on November 11 in India, has achieved an impressive five-star Global NCAP rating for adult occupant safety and a four-star rating for child occupant protection. This is a significant step for the largest car producer in the country which has often been heavily criticised for safety rating of its passenger vehicles.

Equipped with six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and pedestrian protection features as standard, the new Dzire marks a milestone as Maruti Suzuki’s first model to earn a five-star safety rating under the Global NCAP assessment. Global NCAP’s crash test protocols evaluate frontal and side impact protection across all models, along with Electronic Stability Control (ESC).

For vehicles aiming for the highest star ratings, the protocols also mandate assessments for pedestrian protection and side pole impact resilience. The Indo-Japanese manufacturer submitted the new Dzire to Global NCAP for voluntary testing where it achieved a stable rating for both structure and footwell area, indicating resilience to further loadings.

All seating positions are equipped with three-point seat belts, and i-Size anchorages come as standard. In the frontal impact test, the driver dummy’s chest showed marginal protection while the pole test demonstrated complete head protection. The side impact test confirmed full protection for adult occupants. David Ward, Executive President of the Towards Zero Foundation said,

“The new Dzire’s five star rating sets a significant safety benchmark for Maruti Suzuki compared to the previous version of this model and others from Maruti we have tested. Global NCAP warmly welcomes this milestone voluntary test result.”

In Global NCAP testing, the 18-month-old dummy demonstrated full protection while the three-year-old dummy received good head and chest protection. Neck protection, however, could be enhanced with a rearward-facing child restraint system (CRS). The side impact assessment for child occupants also showed complete protection.
