Authorities have confiscated several items from the hotel room of singer Liam Payne following his tragic fall in Buenos Aires. The 31 year old, who rose to fame on ITV's The X Factor, died after falling from a third-floor balcony.

Reports suggest that the One Direction star was acting "erratically" before the incident. Infobae states that investigators took possession of a bottle of whiskey, a lighter, a phone, and a notebook from Payne's suite.

Payne suffered immediate fatal injuries, including a fractured skull from the fall. Alberto Crescenti, head of Buenos Aires emergency services, stated that despite rapid medical response, Payne's injuries were "incompatible with life."

He said: "Our role was to head there quickly, give medical attention, and try to resuscitate him, but his injuries were incompatible with life. Based on what the team saw, there was apparently a cranial fracture and extremely serious injuries that led to his immediate death."

Emergency responders confirmed Payne's identity using his passport. Crescenti mentioned that Payne had fallen into the hotel's internal patio but refrained from speculating on whether alcohol or drugs were involved, emphasising the need to wait for autopsy results, reports Birmingham Live.

He advised against premature conclusions, saying, "to not get ahead of ourselves." Hotel guests at Casa Sur reported hearing disturbances and shouting for hours preceding Payne's fatal fall, according to the Guardian.

Doug Jones, a local resident, described the scene: "I thought they were doing construction, there was so much banging, doors slamming, most of the day. It was loud, bizarre," he said. "Later I heard the sirens, thinking perhaps there was a fire somewhere. And then I heard a very loud scream."

A hotel receptionist alerted the authorities about an "aggressive man who could be under the effects of drugs and alcohol", as reported by Reuters.

The hotel manager reported hearing a loud noise at the back of the hotel, and upon arrival, the police discovered that a man had fallen over the balcony in his room.
