Strictly Come Dancing's Katya Jones has made a pointed joke at her dance partner Wynne Evans amidst the recent "grope" controversy. The duo's dynamic came under scrutiny after two uncomfortable on-camera moments during last Saturday's live show, raising concerns about Katya's well-being among viewers.

In an effort to show their camaraderie, the 52 year old Welsh singer shared a video of him carrying Katya up a mountain because she wore impractical shoes for London. "I've got to carry her up a mountain as she's brought these ridiculous London shoes. Do you know where we're going? " Wynne inquired, to which Katya responded: "To get a bacon roll! " Katya then quipped in response to the video: "Only fair, since I've been carrying you around the dance floor all week! ! " While some fans were surprised by the remark, others felt it was evidence of their strong friendship.

"Love you both, keep strong and ignore all that other nonsense," one fan commented, while another chimed in: "Amazing to see you both having fun...I've hated the news lately! It's a load of made up codswallop."

A different follower called for online trolls to stay away from Wynne's social media, arguing it was "affecting everyone else". They vented: "Wynne and Katya seem to enjoy each other's friendship and the only people who were affected by this hyped up story were Wynne and Katya. Sick of all you dramatic people wanting attention. Done, dusted and all over now! ! " Some of Wynne's followers scrutinised the pair's chemistry in a recent video, with several suggesting that Katya was feigning her enjoyment.

"People are easily fooled, she's hating every second of this," one suggested, while another said: "Don't buy it. Sorry.", reports the Mirror.

The spotlight has been on Wynne and Katya's dynamic after controversy arose post-Strictly shows last weekend. In one instance, Wynne was seen moving his hand across Katya's waist, leading her to quickly remove it.

Another awkward moment occurred when Wynne went for a high five, but received a stern look and no reciprocation from Katya. These events raised viewer concerns, prompting the duo to release apologetic statements on social media, affirming their friendship.

On his BBC Radio Wales show this past Monday, Wynne tearfully opened up about the misunderstanding that arose from the waist grab and high-five snub with Katya on Strictly, which he stated was just an "inside joke" gone awry. Despite being "heartbroken" by the negative media coverage affecting his time on the show, Wynne clarified: "I'm absolutely heartbroken by the things that have been written about me in the last day," going on to express how difficult it was for him to deal with the situation.

He further explained the closeness of his friendship with Katya and their intent behind the joke: "It wasn't funny. It has been totally misinterpreted. Everything's on Katya's socials. She's talked about it. She's explained that it was a joke. She wasn't offended in the least. She doesn't feel uncomfortable."

Addressing his emotions, Wynne shared his confusion over feeling the need to apologise, saying, "because I feel like I've not really done anything."
