Jeremy Clarkson has undergone a heart procedure following a "sudden deterioration" in his health. The star of Clarkson's Farm opened up about the ordeal, describing the "wearisome effects of growing old."

He detailed how he first experienced difficulties using stairs while swimming in the Indian Ocean on holiday, and upon returning home, his health rapidly declined.

Jeremy described feeling "clammy", experiencing a "tightness in my chest", and "pins and needles in my left arm". After hearing news of former Scottish first minister Alex Salmond's fatal heart attack, he decided to consult his doctor.

He was then taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford via an ambulance, where they ruled out a heart attack after conducting an electrocardiogram (ECG), blood tests and X-rays. He was then moved to an "operating theatre" where doctors warned him he was "days away" from becoming seriously ill.

In his Sunday Times column, Jeremy revealed: "It seems that of the arteries feeding my heart with nourishing blood, one was completely blocked and the second of three was heading that way," reports the Mirror.

Within two hours, he had a stent fitted, a device designed to prevent future heart attacks by improving blood flow to the heart. Jeremy added: "It wasn't especially painful. Just odd," and reflected: "Crikey, that was close."

Jeremy Clarkson has attempted to inject some humour into his recent health concerns, joking about "wondering what water tastes like and if it's possible to make celery interesting" following his scare. The presenter had previously quit smoking after suffering from pneumonia while on a Spanish holiday.

This week, Jeremy raised eyebrows among his followers after he was spotted with a "suspicious looking" dressing on his wrist during a social media promotion for his new book. While giving a rundown of recommended reads, he used the opportunity to segue into talking about his own upcoming book, 'Diddly Squat: Home to Roost', due out on October 24.

Despite the visible bandage as he gestured towards his books, Jeremy made no mention of it, prompting immediate reaction from fans in the comment section. Queries and concerns came flooding in, with one fan asking, "How'd you hurt your wrist Jezza?" and another suspecting something amiss, commenting, "What happened to you hand? That's a suspicious looking bandage."

An impatient admirer simply begged for answers, imploring: "We all need to know what's happened to your wrist man! ! ! ".
