In a shocking development, it's been reported that One Direction's Liam Payne has died in Argentina. Prior to his unexpected death, he shared a lighthearted snapshot without a shirt on social media, with his girlfriend by his side in a black bikini whilst they were in Argentina.

Payne was engaging with fans on Snapchat up until the hours before he passed away, offering them a glimpse into his personal life, which included a photo of himself and girlfriend Kate Cassidy enjoying breakfast at 1pm, where he remarked they were "enjoying coffee". The artist went on to detail their plans for the day on Snapchat, which involved horse riding and possibly playing polo again, a sport he joked was "hard to do", playfully noting the sore neck and back from handling the mallet.

Tragically, at just 31 years of age, the Express US has reported Payne's passing in Argentina after a fall from the fourth floor of a hotel. The former One Direction member also shared his passion for art with his 1.32 million subscribers, showing off some artwork he admired.

Furthermore, he engaged with his followers by posting a picture of a black dog lying between his legs, prompting them to "caption this."

Just 45 minutes before the devastating announcement of his passing, posts appeared online. He was residing in Buenos Aires' Palermo district when he reportedly suffered a fatal fall from the fourth floor of his hotel, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The circumstances of his death are currently unclear, with ongoing investigations to determine whether it was an accident or self-inflicted. Eyewitnesses speaking to TMZ described the singer's erratic behaviour prior to his untimely demise, including damaging his laptop and needing assistance to return to his room from the hotel lobby.

Liam was a member of the renowned boy band One Direction, formed alongside Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and Harry Styles on the 2010 series of 'X Factor', thanks to Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger's vision. The group experienced turmoil in 2015 following Zayn's sudden exit, leading to their decision to take a "hiatus."
