Bristol hour-by-hour forecast amid Met Office thunderstorm warning

Flooding is expected across Bristol tonight

Bristol is set for a barrage of heavy rain this evening and tonight (Monday, October 7). The Met Office has issued a yellow thunderstorm warning from 4pm until 11.59pm.

Forecasters are warning of heavy downpours which could bring widespread travel disruption in Bristol and the South West. The Environment Agency (EA) said that flooding is expected across the region.

People should be prepared for flooding with low-lying land and roads set to be impacted. Some properties may also be hit by power cuts.

The latest Met Office outlook shows the worst of the rain arriving in Bristol at 8pm tonight. There will be heavy downpours across the city.

Here is the hour-by-hour forecast for Bristol during the course of the weather warning today, according to the Met Office:

  • 4pm: Sunny intervals.
  • 5pm: Sunny intervals.
  • 6pm: Cloudy.
  • 7pm: Light rain.
  • 8pm: Heavy rain.
  • 9pm: Heavy rain.
  • 10pm: Light showers.
  • 11pm: Light showers.
  • 12am (Tuesday, October 8): Light showers.

Here is what the Met Office warns to expect during the thunderstorm warning:

  • There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus
  • Some flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible
  • Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
  • Delays to train services are possible
  • Perhaps damage to a few buildings and structures from lightning strikes, hail or gusty winds, this most likely close to coasts.
