Israeli military strikes again, kills another senior Hizbollah leader in Lebanon - Greater Kashmir

New Delhi, Sep 29: The Israeli military has announced that its fighter jets killed Nabil Qaouk, a senior Hizbollah leader who held a high position in the group’s security council. Qaouk was involved in planning attacks against Israel, according to the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF).

Israel continues its aerial military operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon, launching many airstrikes in the past few hours. The strikes targeted areas where Hizbollah stored weapons, and launchers aimed at Israel. The IDF claims to have hit hundreds of Hezbollah targets recently.

In Lebanon, the situation is dire. Hospitals and shelters are overwhelmed as Israeli attacks have killed over 1,000 people and forced thousands to flee their homes in the past two weeks. Iran has also confirmed the death of Abbas Nilforoushan, a senior military commander, in an Israeli airstrike. Iran praised him for his role in supporting groups like Hizbollah, and the country mourns his loss.

Tensions are rising, especially after the death of Hizbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, in an Israeli airstrike. Lebanon is bracing for what comes next, with fears of a possible ground invasion by Israel. Heibollah is weakened but still holds significant power, with thousands of fighters and large numbers of rockets.

There are concerns that this conflict could spread beyond Lebanon, involving other Iran-backed groups in the region, such as militias in Iraq and Syria. All eyes are on Iran’s next move, as its leaders have not yet openly threatened retaliation despite the heavy losses Hezbollah has suffered.

Meanwhile, Lebanon’s Prime Minister Najib Mikati declared a period of mourning and warned that the country is facing a dangerous and uncertain future.
