Srinagar, Oct 21: The Monday morning was darkened in Naidgam village in Kashmir’s Budgam as family and neighbours mourned the death of Dr Shahnawaz who was killed in cold blood last night in an attack on camp housing labourers of an infrastructure company in Gagangeer.

Shahwanaz was a role model, and despite being a doctor, he had great understanding of religion even as people who knew him, looked up to him as their role model, said his cousin Advocate Tariq.

“It felt like doomsday when we heard about his death, there is mourning in the whole village, every eye is moist today,” melancholic Tariq told Greater Kashmir.

Dr Shahnawaz was a man with character, Tariq said.

Although he was young, Shahnawaz set an example through his philanthropic works, he said.

He leaves behind his two sons and a daughter. Only four days back, he married off his daughter, and now this shattering news has left us yearning for him forever, Tariq said.

On Sunday evening, terrorists opened indiscriminate fire at a camp housing labourers of an infrastructure company in the Gagangeer area of Ganderbal, killing a local doctor and six migrant workers.
