2 security personnel injured in ongoing encounter in Bandipora - Greater Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 05: Two security personnel were injured in an ongoing encounter which broke out in Choontpathri forest area of Bandipora district on Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

Earlier one terrorist was killed during initial exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists.

The officials said that security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Choontpathri forest area of Bandipora district, after specific inputs received about present of terrorists in the area.

They said soon search party approach the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired upon the forces personnel, triggering an encounter in the forest area.

The officials continued that one terrorist was killed during initial exchange of fire, while two forces personnel sustained injuries afterwards who have been evacuated to hospital for treatment.

The operation in the area is underway, the officials said.
