High drama continues in J-K Assembly as BJP demands withdrawal of special status resolution - Greater Kashmir
by GK Web Desk · Greater KashmirSrinagar, Nov 07: Bewildering scenes were witnessed in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly on Thursday as the BJP and ruling party members continued their dispute over the resolution calling for the rollback of special provisions to the erstwhile state.
As soon as the house convened, BJP leaders led by LoP Sunil Sharma started sloganeering to demand withdrawal of the resolution passed by the house, forcing the speaker to adjourn the house for 20 minutes.
After the house reconvened, the LoP started speaking, but he was stopped by the Speaker who said that he will be allowed to speak at his turn.
“Isko samjaye (make him understand)… he has not read basic rules of assembly. You are not above law and rules. Take your seat,” speaker asked the LoP.
The speaker, Abdul Rahim Rather, said that he was watching activities of some members while asking them not to force his hand.
Sunil accused the ruling party of getting lakhs of people killed in the name of special status, which provoked the treasury benches. They stood up and started raising slogans, ‘Jis Kashmir ko khoon se seencha, woh Kashmir humara hai’ (The Kashmir we weaved from blood, that is our Kashmir.)
Soon, speaker ordered the marshalling out of the BJP MLAs.
