Actor Anupam Kher’s photo on fake note, trader loses rs.1.6 crore

Ahmedabad: A shocking case of trickery case has come to light in Ahemedabad. Scammers duped a trader in Ahemedabad using fake notes bearing bollywood actor Anupam Kher’s photo. The scammers cheated the trader of worth Rs.1.5 Crore.

Reportedly the victim Mehul Thakkar, a bullion trader from Ahemedabad was scammed by some fraudsters.
As per him, one of his employee got a call from an unknown number. He was offered a lucrative deal involving 2,100 grams of gold valued at rs. 1.6 Crore. The scammers first paid rs. 1.3 Crore in cash and promised to pay the remaining amount of rs. 30 lakh the next day.
However after handing over the gold, they vanished. The businesses man later found that all the notes they paid are fake currency notes which bears actor Anupam kher’s photo instead of Mahatma Gandhi. The businessman immediately field a case in the Navrangpura police station on September 24.

As per the Navrangpura police officer, Thakkar was first approached by a jewelry shop manager identified as Prashant Patel. He was Thakkar’s businesses partner for a long time. Patel informed the businessman that, the buyers can’t transfer the full amount immediately. He has asked to handover the cash amount of rs. 1.3 Crore in cash. Later he will pay the remaining amount. And the businessman agreed upon the deal.

On September 24 Thakkar delivered 2,100 grams of gold to the scammers fake office set-up. And received the fake notes. Later he discovered that the notes are not original and features Anupam Kher’s photo within it.

Meanwhile the actor Anupam Kher took social media to condemn such fraud activities. He shared a video regarding this matter on his official X account.
He wrote “My photo instead of Mahatma Gandhi’s on a ₹500 note??? Kuch bhi ho sakta hai (Anything can happen).”
