Nepal floods 2024: death toll rises to 112 in 24 hours

Nepal: Landslide triggered by flood caused extensive damage in Nepal. Reportedly Nepal is facing a devastating crisis due to floods and landslides. Which resulted a staggering death toll of 112 people in the last 24 hours. Around 68 people are missing and over 100 people are injured due to the disaster.

As per APF and Nepal Police, around 34 people were found dead in Kavrepalanchowk, with 20 in Lalitpur, 15 in Dhading, 12 in Kathmandu, seven in Makwanpur, four in Sindhupalchowk, three in Dolakha and five each in Panchthar and Bhaktapur districts.

Reportedly the Kathmandu valley has been severely affected in the recent rainfall. the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police have been deployed to conduct search and rescue operations all across the Himalayan nation.

Nepal Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak stated that, “Due to the heavy rainfall all across the nation, we are collecting information about induced damages; a meeting of the (disaster) command post also has been conveyed. A huge amount of damage to life and properties has been recorded all across the nation. The recent rainfall has also affected the Kathmandu Valley severely. The Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police are conducting the search and rescue operations all across the nation,” on Saturday.

As per sources, Kathmandu experienced the highest rainfall in last 54 Years, receiving 323mm in 24 hours. According to locals the flooding was ground-breaking in the past 40-45 years.
