Cyclone Dana: West Bengal Governor cancels all programs to monitor crisis

Kolkata (West Bengal): In the wake of cyclone Dana, the West Bengal Governor has cancelled all his programs and shall monitor the crisis situation. West Bengal Raj Bhavan has posted an official X post “…In view of the impending landfall of Cyclone DANA, Governor has cancelled all his programmes”

The x post further read, ” (He) shall be monitoring the activities of the Cyclone Dana from the Control Room in Raj Bhavan. He will also be keeping a watch over the unfolding situation across the vulnerable districts.”

Later in a video statement, the Governor CV Ananda Bose told ANI, “…We are now, in a moment of crisis. Cyclone Dana is nearing but we in Bengal have braved many storms.We will face Dana also with confidence and fortitude.”

Governor Bose further said, “Bengal will stand together. India will stand together. We shall overcome…Please follow all instructions issued by the Government and Disaster Management Authorities…”

“All Disaster Management machinery of the State Government and the Government of India are kept well-oiled and fit…” he assured.

It is worth mentioning that, Cyclone DANA will make the landfall in between Bhitarkanika and Dhamra of Odisha. The process of landfall will begin on the night of October 24 and continue till the morning of October 25. So, the landfall process will be for around 5 hours.

The maximum wind speed during this time is likely to be around 120 kmph. It was informed by Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, the Director-General of Indian Meteorological Department or IMD.
