IIFA Awards 2024: Shah Rukh Khan wins best actor, Rani Mukerji takes home best actress
by KalingaTV Bureau · KalingaTVAbu Dhabi: The 24th edition of the biggest celebration of Indian cinema – the International Indian Film Academy & Awards, IFFA was held in Etihad Arena – Yas Island, Abu Dhabi this year. Shahrukh Khan won the best actor award for jawan and Rani Mukerji received the best actress award for playing the role of immigrant mother in the movie Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway.
The 3 day long star-studded event took place from September 27 to 29 uniting five iconic film industries for a showcase of talent and glamour. The festival started on 27th of September and concluded on September 29 with the exclusive, invitation-only event, IIFA Rocks.
Day one of the award ceremony honored the outstanding talents of South Indian cinema. The second day was all about the movies and talents of the Hindi film industry and the main awards night. Meanwhile the music industry got all the spot light.
The king of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan won the Best Actor award for his performance in Jawan, actress Rani Mukerji got the trophy of best actress for Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway, and the Best Director award went to Vidhu Vinod Chopra for the Vikrant Massey-starrer 12th Fail.
The other big winner of the night was Ranbir Kapoor’s most controversial film Animal. Anil Kapoor won the Best Supporting Actor award for the movie Animal. He played the role of Ranbir’s father in that film. Bobby Deol took the trophy home for the Best Actor in Negative Role award. The movie also bagged the Best Music award, Best Lyrics award. Bhupinder Babbal won the Best Singer Male award for his song “Arjan Vailly”.
Director-Producer Karan Johar honored at NEXA IIFA Awards 2024 for 25 Years of Redefining Romance in Cinema. While Hema Malini was honored for Outstanding Achievement in Indian Cinema.
Shah Rukh Khan and Vicky Kaushal hosted and entertained the audiences with their dance .
