UGC NET Result 2024 declared: 1.12 lakh qualify for PhD, 4,970 for JRF

The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the UGC National Eligibility Test results on Thursday, with 1,12,070 candidates qualifying for PhD admissions.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared the results of the UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) 2024 on Thursday. A total of 1,12,070 candidates have qualified for PhD admissions, while 53,694 candidates have cleared the exam, making them eligible for Assistant Professor positions. Additionally, 4,970 candidates have earned eligibility for the prestigious Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).

In this edition of the UGC-NET exam, more than 11 lakh candidates registered, with 6,84,224 appearing for the computer-based test. The exam was conducted over 11 days, across 280 cities nationwide, from August 21 to September 5, 2024.

Initially scheduled for June 18 and conducted in a pen-and-paper format, the exam was later rescheduled and expanded to cover 83 subjects across 21 shifts.

The UGC NET is held to assess eligibility for Assistant Professor positions as well as for candidates seeking the Junior Research Fellowship. It attracted a diverse group of participants, including male, female, and third gender candidates.
