Bangladeshi adult film actor arrested for staying illegally in India

The incident came to light after Riya Barde's friend came to know that she was staying illegally in the country and alerted the police in Maharashtra.

A Bangladeshi adult film star has been arrested in Maharashtra for staying illegally in India and obtaining an Indian passport using fake documents. Riya Barde, who is also known in the adult film industry as Aarohi Barde and Banna Sheikh, was arrested by Hill Line police in Ulhasnagar following a tip off.

The incident came to light after Riya's friend came to know that she was a Bangladeshi native and was staying illegally in the country and alerted the police. A case has been registered against Riya under various sections of BNSS for cheating and forgery as well as the Foreigners Act.

Riya's mother Anjali Barde, alias Ruby Sheikh, father Arvind Barde, brother Ravindra, alias Riyaz Sheikh, and sister Ritu, alias Moni Sheikh, have also been named as accused. Riya's mother and father are currently residing in Qatar. Police are on the lookout for Riya's brother and sister.

Sub-inspector Sangram Malkar, who investigated the case, said Riya's mother arrived in India with her two daughters and son. She stayed illegally in India by obtaining fake documents. She married Arvind Barde, a resident of Amravati, by claiming that she was from West Bengal. She got passports made for her family by providing fake birth certificates of herself and her children.

A verification of Riya Barde's documents found that her birth certificate, school-leaving certificate, and passport listed three different places of birth -- North 24 Parganas, Hooghly (both in West Bengal) and Achalpur in Maharashtra's Amravati district.

Police said Riya is associated with many production houses and has worked in several adult films. She was previously arrested by Mumbai Police in a case related to prostitution.
