Cocaine worth Rs 2,000 crore, hidden in namkeen packets, seized in Delhi

Delhi Police Special Cell busted a drug trafficking network, seizing 200 kg of cocaine worth Rs 2,000 crore from a Ramesh Nagar warehouse, linked to a previous seizure of 600 kg of drugs.

Delhi Police Special Cell on Thursday busted another drug trafficking bid and seized around 200 kilograms of cocaine, valued at Rs 2000 crore, from a warehouse located in the Ramesh Nagar area, officials said.

The drug syndicate was busted as the car used to transport the cocaine was equipped with a GPS. The police tracked the GPS location to carry out their operation and seized the drugs, they added.

According to police, the confiscated drugs were concealed in 'namkeen' (snack) packets.

The man accused of bringing the cocaine to the national capital has fled to London, sources told India Today TV.

The recent seizure is linked to the same syndicate involved in a previous case where over 560 kg of cocaine and 40 kg of hydroponic marijuana, estimated to be worth Rs 5,620 crore, were confiscated on October 2 from a godown in Mahipalpur in south Delhi.

Four people, identified as Tushar Goyal (40), Himanshu Kumar (27) and Aurangzeb Siddiqui (23) and Bharat Kumar Jain (48), were arrested on the spot while two others were subsequently held from Amritsar and Chennai.

One more person, Akhlak, was arrested from Uttar Pradesh's Hapur earlier in the day. According to police, Akhlak used to help transport drugs in northern India.

Delhi Police has issued a lookout circular (LOC) against Indian-origin Dubai-based businessman Virender Basoya, who is suspected to be involved in the Rs 5,620 crore drug cartel.
