El Classico: Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelloti was disappointed after his team faced a crushing 4-0 defeat to Barcelona in the LaLiga El Classico on Saturday at Santiago Bernabeu.

Carlo Ancelloti said that Real Madrid had a forgetful ‘last 30 minutes’ after Barcelona defeated them 4-0 in the LaLiga El Classico on Saturday, October 26. At Santiago Bernabeu, Robert Lewandowski handed Barcelona their first defeat 42 matches in the tournament. The Polish striker scored in the 54th and 56th minutes to lay the platform for Barcelona.

Thereafter, 17-year-old Lamine Yamal and Raphinha piled on the misery for Real Madrid, scoring in the 77th and 84th minutes. Kylian Mbappe looked out of form as Real Madrid missed several chances despite having dominated possession.

Ancelloti was hurt after Real Madrid’s dreadful showing in their own backyard, but also backed them to make a strong comeback.

"We are hurt, it's a tough moment, but I want to thank the fans for their support. We don't have to throw everything away, because there is nothing to throw away," Ancelloti said.

"We have to forget the last 30 minutes. The season is very long, we must not give up. We have to learn from it. It's time to bounce back. The season is long. We must not throw everything away. The team can do better and we will,” Ancelloti said.

‘Result doesn't reflect what happened’

Ancelotti expressed his belief that Real Madrid deserved a better outcome, suggesting that the result didn't reflect the true nature of the match. However, he acknowledged that his team ultimately paid the price for squandering numerous scoring opportunities.

"The result doesn't reflect what happened on the pitch. We couldn't take the lead and they went ahead and took it. The game, until the first goal, was very even and we had more chances," Ancelloti added.

Real Madrid will be looking to make a comeback when they face Valencia on November 2 at Mestalla. They are currently placed second in the table with 24 points thanks to wins in seven out of 11 games.
