After several BBC app and website subscribers called out the inaccurate weather forecast, the media organisation apologised in a post on X.

"You may have noticed some data issues on our app and website. We are working hard to fix it quickly. Sorry - please bear with us," BBC Weather said in a post on X.

Senior BBC journalist Carol Kirkwood also addressed the issue during her weather forecast on Thursday morning.

"We love a weather map and we love information... There is a problem this morning. I think we can illustrate it now on the BBC Weather app, which is suggesting that there were hurricane-style winds all over the UK, which is clearly, manifestly not true," Charlie Stayt, one of the show's presenters was quoted as saying by news portal The Standard.

Earlier, several X users called out the BBC for the wrong weather prediction.

"Yikes... I'm hoping the BBC app has a problem," an X user said in a post. Another user commented, "I think your weather app has been hacked? 1,436 mile-an-hour winds in Hertfordshire??"

In 2023, the BBC also showed an incorrect weather frecast in the UK, when it showed the temperature at 7 degrees Celsius when it was hovering between 16 and 23 degrees Celsius with light rain.

Later, the BBC issued an apology.
