No bail for actors Darshan, Pavithra Gowda in Renukaswamy murder case

A court in Bengaluru on Monday rejected the bail pleas of actors Darshan and Pavithra Gowda in the Renukaswamy murder case.

Out of the six accused who sought relief, bail was granted to two, while the pleas of the remaining four were rejected.

The Sessions Court rejected the bail pleas of Darshan, Pavitra Gowda, Nagaraj, and Lakshman, while accused Ravishankar and Deepak were granted bail.

Renukaswamy, a devoted fan of actor Darshan, was killed after he made derogatory comments on social media about Pavithra Gowda. Both Darshan and Pavithra Gowda, along with several others, were arrested in connection with the murder case.

Pavithra allegedly provoked Darshan and the other accused to kill Renukaswamy for sending her obscene messages, according to a chargesheet filed by Bengaluru Police.

ABOUT THE RENUKASWAMY MURDER CASE

The body of 33-year-old Renukaswamy was found near Sumanahalli Bridge in Bengaluru on June 9. The post-mortem report revealed multiple bruise marks on his body with a missing ear and ruptured testicles.

The report further stated that Renukaswamy was attacked with wooden clubs and died "due to shock and haemorrhage as a result of multiple blunt injuries sustained". Pictures taken by the crime branch team, accessed by India Today TV, showed black and blue marks on Renukswamy's back, arms and chest.

Actor Darshan Thoogudeepa was arrested on June 11 for his alleged involvement in the murder case. Apart from him, Pavithra Gowda and 15 others were arrested in connection with the case.
