Ajit Pawar's NCP releases third candidates' list for Maharashtra Assembly polls

The Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) released its third list of four candidates on Sunday, bringing the total nominations to 49 for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections.

In the latest list, the NCP has fielded Vijay Singh Pandit from Gevrai, Sachin Sudhakar Patil from Phaltan, Dilip Bankar from Niphad, and Kashinath Date from Parner.

Sunil Tatkare, the state president of the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), made this announcement today.

The party’s first and second lists were released on October 23 and 25, respectively.

Deputy Chief Minister and NCP chief Ajit Pawar is contesting from Baramati, where a possible "Pawar vs. Pawar" showdown is anticipated, with NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) leader Yugendra Pawar likely to challenge him.

The first list indicated strong support for 26 sitting MLAs, including ministers who backed Ajit Pawar in his recent split from his uncle, Sharad Pawar, to join the ruling Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra.

Elections for Maharashtra’s 288-member Assembly are scheduled for November 20, with votes to be counted on November 23, just before the current Assembly term ends on November 26.
