‘Squid Game’: Player 456 Reenters the Arena in Latest Season Two Teaser

· Rolling Stone

Netflix shared a Halloween treat Thursday as the streaming service unveiled the latest teaser for the much-anticipated second season of Squid Game.

The new preview finds Player 456 (Lee Jung-jae) returning to the Squid Game after winning (and, more importantly, surviving) Season One. This time around, instead of earning money, 456 is more interested in taking down the game’s overlords, including the mysterious Front Man (played by Lee Byung-hun).

Elsewhere in the trailer, Player 456 is forced to admit to his fellow competitors that he has previously competed in the Squid Game.

“Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 gave up going to the states and comes back with a new resolution in his mind,” Netflix said in a synopsis. “Gi-hun once again dives into the mysterious survival game, starting another life-or-death game with new participants gathered to win the prize of 45.6 billion won.”

While we don’t know what new murderous games will be featured in Season 2, the new teaser shows that the beloved “Red Light, Green Light” will be making a return appearance. While Player 456 tries to educate his fellow contestants on how to survive, a bee in the Squid Game arena results in more death.

Over three years after Squid Game became one of Netflix’s most popular series and an Emmy-winning smash, the series will return to the streaming service on December 26. A third (and final) season has already been green-lit and is planned for 2025.
