Among a lineup of new announcements, Apple has unveiled the all-new iMac equipped with a powerful M4 chip and Apple Intelligence features. The M4 chip means greater performance for the already advanced desktop computer, including 1.7x faster daily productivity tasks and more than twice as fast high-intensity tasks like photo editing and gaming.

For today’s content creators, the M4 offers 2.1x faster editing performance on apps like Adobe Photoshop1 and Adobe Premiere Pro. For gamers, up to 2x higher frame rates than the M1 iMac will enable smooth and high-fidelity gameplay. Additionally, the 12MP Center Stage camera will facilitate automatically adjusting camera focussing and maneuvering.

Most excitingly, the new M4 chip is optimized for Apple Intelligence, which according to Apple, aims to transform how “users work, communicate, and express themselves while protecting their privacy.” One of the key AI-powered features is Writing Tools, a suite of features offering refinement the writing of users with helpful summarization, rewriting, and proofreading tools. Apple Intelligence also enables broader use of Siri across different apps, as well as written and spoken prompts.

In addition to the software updates, shoppers can choose from an array of new bold colors: green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue and classic silver. The colors make their boldest appearance on the backside of the monitor, while subtly tying into the accompanying Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse. The 24-inch 4.5K Retina screen features a new nano-texture glass option to reduce distracting glares and reflections.

The model starts at $1,299 USD with the following specs:  8-core CPU, an 8-core GPU, 16GB of unified memory configurable up to 24GB, 256GB SSD configurable up to 1TB, two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Mouse or Magic Trackpad.

The new iMac with M4 will be released on Friday, November 8, but is available now for pre-order on the Apple webstore and in the Apple Store app.
