Delhi News Live Updates: Addressing a Janta Adalat at Jantar Mantar today, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal stated, “It is up to the people to decide who the thief is—me or the BJP. I decided then that I would go to the people and ask them to certify my honesty. Only after that will I sit on the CM seat. I can’t occupy the seat of CM with all these allegations against me.” He also took a dig at the Prime Minister, asserting that efforts were being made to portray him, Sisodia, and AAP as corrupt.

Kejriwal further posed five questions to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat: “RSS people say we are rashtravadi and deshbhakt. With respect, I ask five questions from Mohan Bhagwat ji. First, the way PM Modi ji is using the ED and CBI to break opposition parties and governments? Is this right? Is this deshbhakti? Second, Modi ji has included all the corrupt people in his party. Did you ever think of such a BJP with corrupt leaders?”

Kejriwal is holding the ‘Adalat’ in order to address the corruption charges levelled against him in the excise policy case. Jantar Mantar is the same venue where his political journey began more than a decade ago from the India Against Corruption Movement. Meanwhile, Senior AAP leader Atishi was administered oath as the eighth Chief Minister of Delhi by Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena on Saturday. She will have a brief tenure in office as assembly elections in the national capital are due in February. A first-time legislator, Atishi is a key face of the party and managed AAP’s operations during Kejriwal’s time in Tihar jail in connection with the excise policy case.

"The motive is very clear, Arvind Kejriwal will attend the Jatna Adalat and ask them to vote for him if he is honest. In all this, you will be able to understand Arvind Kejriwal's personality. Dragonfly survey in Delhi: Increase in total number, dip in species

A three-day dragonfly and damselfly survey conducted across seven DDA Biodiversity Parks from September 18 to 20 revealed a marginal decrease in the number of species and a significant jump in the number of flies compared to previous years’ counts. The survey was conducted in Yamuna, Aravalli, Neela Hauz, Tilpath Valley, Kamla Nehru Ridge, Tughlaqabad, and Kalindi.

Kamla Nehru Ridge recorded 3,150 individual flies, ten times the number recorded (391) in 2022. According to a statement by the DDA Biodiversity Parks on Saturday, this rise is closely correlated with the extended monsoon season experienced in the region this year, which has led to more favourable conditions for breeding and habitat availability. Wandering Glider and Ditch Jewel were the most sighted dragonflies across all the Biodiversity Parks. This is indicative of their “wide range of tolerance” and suitable habitats in the urban landscapes of Delhi. (Read More)

Delhi Hardlook: How safe are women medicos in govt hospitals in the Capital?

Spread across three interconnected buildings, at the government-run Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital in East Delhi, a youth (18), barged inside a ward and shot dead a patient (32), on July 14. As the doctor on duty and attendants watched in horror, the teenager escaped via the hospital’s multiple entry and exit points, some of which are not manned.

From the rape and murder of a junior doctor in Kolkata’s R G Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9 to healthcare providers at another Delhi hospital reportedly being attacked by a patient’s attendant on August 24 — security for healthcare providers at government hospitals has been found wanting.

A recent visit by the The Indian Express to the GTB Hospital and Dr Hedgewar Aarogya Sansthan in Shahdara revealed a grim reality. (Read More)
