by Express Web Desk · The Indian Express · JoinMumbai News Live Updates, October 5, 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday flagged off the first phase of Mumbai Metro Line-3 from BKC to the Aarey JVLR section, a project costing around ₹14,120 crore. This marks as Maharashtra’s first underground metro project. He also launched over 7,500 projects worth ₹1,920 crore under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) in Thane, Mumbai. The Thane Integral Ring Metro Rail Project, the Elevated Eastern Freeway Extension, and the Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area (NAINA) projects were also inaugurated, among others.
Modi also criticised the Congress government for supporting urban-Naxal groups. He added that the Congress government has only one aim: to create divisions among people.
Weather update today: Mumbai is likely to witness partly cloudy skies with the possibility of drizzle in city and the suburbs, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 32 and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Mumbai News Live Updates: PM Modi takes ride in Metro Line 3, interacts with students, labourers
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a train ride on the newly inaugurated Metro Line 3, which runs from BKC to Aarey in Mumbai.
During the ride to Santacruz station and back, PM Modi interacted with students, beneficiaries of the Maharashtra government's Ladki Bahin Yojana, and labourers involved in construction of the underground line.
To improve the commuter experience, he also launched the MetroConnect3 app and unveiled a coffee table book showcasing images from the metro journey.
He was accompanied by Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishanan, Union minister Manohar Lal, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and deputies Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a series of attacks on Congress during an event in Thane, Mumbai. He referred to Congress as a party of Urban Naxals, claiming they are backing a dangerous agenda to hinder India's progress and divide the country. Modi called Congress the "most dishonest and corrupt party".
He blamed the Maha Vikas Aghadi regime for causing delays in the metro project, increasing its cost by ₹14,000 crore. He also accused Congress leaders of being involved in drug rackets, using drug money to win elections.
Along with inaugurating multiple projects in Thane, PM Modi also launched projects in Maharashtra's Washim district earlier today. He emphasised the important role the Banjara community has played in nation-building.

NCP member from Ajit Pawar faction killed in Mumbai’s Byculla
A group of unidentified men allegedly hacked to death a member of the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar) in the Byculla area of Mumbai on Saturday morning, the police said.
The deceased Sachin Kurmi, alias Munna, 45, was the Byculla Vidhan Sabha taluka president of the NCP.
According to the police, Kurmi was attacked with a sharp weapon on the chest, neck, hands, and stomach around 1 am on Anant Pawar Road.

Mumbai police transfers over 100 officers who completed 3 years in service
In line with the Election Commission's order, Mumbai police has transferred over 100 officers outside the city who had completed three years in city police prior to the upcoming state elections.
Earlier, EC had pulled up the Mumbai Police for not complying with its orders in spite of repeated reminders. Mumbai Police had sought an exemption but the same was not granted.

PM Modi to inaugurate Mumbai Metro Line 3 between BKC and Aarey today
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate a 12.44-km stretch of the Mumbai Metro Line 3 during his visit to the city, between Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and Aarey.
Modi will also kick off other major infrastructure projects, including the Thane Ring Metro project and the new Thane municipal headquarters. The PM is scheduled to visit the BKC Metro 3 station.
