Met Eireann issue Status Orange Rain warning for two counties and Status Yellow warning for seven counties

Met Eireann warned there would be some flooding, dangerous driving conditions and poor visibility for these counties

Met Éireann have issued a Status Orange Rain warning for two counties, as well as a Status Yellow Rain warning for seven counties, with Ireland set to be battered by heavy rain.

The national forecaster issued the Status Orange Rain warning for Cork and Waterford on Friday evening, warning of heavy rain and some flooding, dangerous driving conditions, and poor visibility. The warning is valid from midday on Sunday and valid until Monday midday.

A Status Yellow Rain warning was also issued for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork, Kerry, and Waterford.

Issuing the warning, Met Éireann warned of persistent rain, heavy at times. Potential Impacts include localised flooding, poor visibility and diffficult travelling conditions. The warning is valid from midnight on Sunday until midnight on Monday.

Overall, rain, heavy in parts, will spread up from the southwest, over much of the country during Saturday night and Sunday, reaching the north coast Sunday afternoon, and accompanied by fresh to strong and gusty easterly winds.

Some spot flooding may occur in parts too. Highest temperatures of 11C to 15C. The rain should turn more patchy on Sunday evening and night with a lighter northerly breeze setting in. Lowest temperatures of around 7C to 10C.
