RTE postpones new series of Ireland's Fittest Family after death of contestant

The new season of Ireland's Fittest Family has been postponed following the death of one of the contestants.

The show was scheduled to return for its 12th season on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player on Sunday October 27 at 6.30pm. The new season features celebrity coaches Davy Fitzgerald, Anna Geary, Donncha O'Callaghan and Sonia O'Sullivan.

The new release date of the programme is yet to be confirmed, with the broadcaster saying details will be provided in due course, reports Dublin Live.

RTÉ said in a statement on Tuesday: "The broadcast of the new series of Ireland's Fittest Family originally scheduled to begin this Sunday night, has now been postponed following the death of one of this year's participants subsequent to the completion of the series.

"RTÉ and Kite/Animo productions wish to extend our deepest sympathies to the bereaved family and friends at this time. Further details regarding the broadcast of the series will be provided in due course."
