A Liam Payne fan has revealed the heartbreaking moment things took a devastating turn shortly after meeting her idol in Argentina.

Just over a week since the One Direction star died aged 31 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the world continues to mourn the singer's passing. Shortly before his death, the One Direction star invited a fan into the lobby of the Casa Sur in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he had been staying.

Now, she has opened up on the conversation, and described how things took a turn prior to the tragedy. Daiana Gauna opened up on meeting the star in the Argentinian capital after she and friends had been waiting to grab a glimpse of their idol.

Daiana told Argentinian TV show TN Central how the singer looked well and hadn't been "drunk or aggressive" during their time together. "He approached us and spent quite a bit of time talking to us and telling us about his experiences in Buenos Aires, the places he’d been to and where he wanted to go," she said. "He said he loved the city and would like to buy a home here, that he loved the countryside around Buenos Aires."

She explained how the conversation at around 3pm lasted around 10 to 15 minutes, and claimed the star said he had just woken up and was waiting to go for food. He went on to describe his love of the country and told the group how he had been running on Sunday morning in the countryside with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy.

Shortly after the chat, Daiana said she was still at the hotel when her group noticed "strange movements" in the venue. She explained how they watched as a police patrol car and fire engine arrived.

"A couple who were staying at the hotel came down and we asked them what was going on and they said a guest had jumped to his death," she continued. "I never thought it was Liam because I had seen him just over an hour earlier and he seemed okay.”

She then broke down in tears as she discussed the moment she found out it was indeed Liam. "Finding out someone is dead that you’ve just seen was really shocking," she sobbed. "He was my idol. Liam spoke a lot about mental health and in his songs told us we are never alone."

She concluded: "This is all very hard. As fans we are in a lot of pain. We want justice to be done and we don’t want things that are false published on social media."

Liam's fans have since set up a petition to bring in Liam's Law. Over 75,000 people have so far signed the campaign. The petition aims to realise a proposition Liam suggested made to give greater support to support young musicians.
